Yes I am

What is a brat? Are you a brat? Am I a brat? Does it matter?

Yep. Apparently I am. I don’t see it like that, but I love the term. Why? Not sure really, but I say it with my tongue poking out. If being cheeky, playful, having a dry wit and the love to battle with words and a bit of playfulness then I am a brat in every sense. Some love it, some think its disrespectful. Is it disrespectful or is it those who don’t like it simply don’t have patience and tolerance and acceptance for a person?

I see a brat as someone who has an independent streak, a fire, a strong will. Cheeky at times but generally playful. A brat isn’t a bitch, a brat is someone who likes to have fun. Sometimes we push it, sometimes it gets us in trouble but it is WHO we are. Everyone has a little brat in them sometimes. The word nutter is said alot around me, probably because I can act like an idiot at times. Blame it on playing with a toddler day in day out. I nurture my inner child, I love to have fun, I don’t do serious all the time, just yesterday I walked home with my son from kindy and we had a leaf fight, it’s autumn here, lots of fun leaves to crunch! It was amusing, some people walked past with this “what the hell are you doing” look. Others grinned.

In the D/s world the term brat can raise hackles on a few. Some hate it. That’s where I think the term gets confused with things such as spoilt, bitch etc. A brat likes to play, a brat likes to push the mark every so often, not because they are being a bitch but because they are WHO they are. Everyone’s definition of the term brat can be quite different so it makes it all the more confusing. Funny thing is I know quite a few that are brats, they love it and so do their partners. It’s part of who we are, it’s in our souls, the restless, wild part of ourselves. It’s not a game, it’s not to intentionally upset or hurt people. A brat can be outspoken and sometimes “foot in mouth” gets one into trouble. A brat can be feisty and independent. A brat can be stubborn, digging those heels in.

Are there advantages and disadvantages to being a brat? I am sure there are. Hell I can guarantee plenty of them get punished alot for their slips of the tongue. Most times I was punished were simply because I had pushed too far. I play and I push because that’s who I am, not just in relationships but in everyday life, if I want something I get it, through stubborness of will, whatever, I get it. I have a habit of proving others wrong when I am told I can’t do something, it’s almost like being told can’t fuels me. I grew up having to assert myself, I grew up kicking and screaming, fighting authority. I had to as a kid and I suppose thats alot of the reason I am who I am. I haven’t had an easy life, and I have been around some pretty bad shit, it caused me to put up walls, to stubbornly stand my ground for things I believe in. And if that makes me a brat then so be it.

M did teach me to respect him and I took the time to learn when to pull my head in and behave but at times it’s a side of me he absolutely loved. He also had the wisdom to use my brattiness to his advantage and it worked. Instead of looking at it as something bad he used to it reinforce training, he used that firey will of mine and put it to use in areas where it would benefit me. And when I became bratty and sassy he began to understand that it was my way of telling him I wasn’t processing something too well. The problem with most brats is we tend to go from bratty to bitchy and THAT is what gets us in trouble. I have a scots temper. I go from 0 – 100 in about the space of 3 seconds. Hehe he even used to say he could see my nostrils flaring when I got in that head space and he learnt how to snap me out of it in seconds. How? Simple.

BOW! It took me from brat to submissive in seconds. He reminded me of my place. I chose to be there and I chose to be his.

If you chose to be a brat or you chose to own a brat, enjoy it. If you don’t like brats fine. Don’t have one. There’s plenty that like that fire. And one that will love the fire in me.

Muse

Skin glistening with sweat,
Words unable to form on her lips,
The whites of her eyes wild,
Her breathing ragged,
She looks up at Him,
Through the depths of His soul,
Into His heart
She utters one word.

…Master

Eyes so deep,
Hands protecting,
He consumes her,
He owns her,
He cherishes her.

His most prized possession.

One.

Some people suck, others rock!

Talking to a four year old day in day out does little for the conversation skills. Talking to people who are generally thick do nothing for me either. No I am not being vain, simply honest.

Talking to people who have a heart on the other hand has been wonderful. There are some very special people I have met over the past four years, mainly due to being a mod on a very large chat site for three of them and making some amazing friendships as a result.

Some of those people happen to be submissives, slaves and the odd Dom and Master. Some are parents, some are not, some are writers, artists, business owners and generally very intelligent people and I love every one of them as a close friend.

One thing I learnt over the years of moderating on a chat site is people come from all walks of life. Just because you are sat behind a screen doesn’t make it any different than in RL. People have feelings. We all have stories to tell, we all have things in common, that is after all why we connect or there is a knowing that there is some form of connection that needs to be explored further.

My story is probably a little crazy but it happened and some days I don’t know which way is up and which way is down, and through all of this those friends have been a lifeline, they understand what I am going through, they shared my journey, and they picked me up when I fell. When the world walks out your friends are the ones left standing there and thats what is important in life. The people you meet that have an effect on your life in a positive way are the ones that should be cherished. The ones that don’t walk away when it gets tough.

So thank you to those that have made my hell a little easier to cope with, you truly have no idea how much it means. You know who you are x
